Answer
Hi Mick,

One question -- what do you mean by "picture size?" Are you talking about changing the canvas size of an existing Photoshop document? Or are you talking about resizing a photo for work with your tablet? Or are you talking about creating a new document that will let you work in the same area as your tablet?

I'm not sure here, so I'll assume you're talking about changing a canvas size in an existing Photoshop that's the same size as your work area in your graphics tablet.

When you have a graphics tablet, you adhere to the space that your graphics tablet allows, and that's what determines the size of your work area. So it's really your tablet that imposes any kind of document area size restrictions. Your tablet's work area has a fixed size. If you go outside that size, the work you do won't show up in your Photoshop document.

In other words, I have a little Wacom tablet that has a work space of 3.75" tall by 5" wide. So if I wanted to use my tablet, and make an existing Photoshop document the same size, I'd go to the Image pulldown menu, select Canvas Size and make the dimensions of my new document 3.75" tall and 5" wide.

If I were creating a new document that I wanted to be those same dimensions, I'd go to the File pulldown menu, select New, and enter 3.75" tall and 5" wide.

So really, the size of your Photoshop document doesn't matter, since your tablet working area is a fixed size.

Is this what you meant? If not, post back and let me know.

Hope this helps --

Lisa

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.

PICA award (Printing Industry of the Carolinas Award for the design of a media kit that accompanied a magazine I was art directing at the time)
