Dear Huma:
iMac 450, 128mb ram, OS 9.2.1, Illustrator 9.0.2, Photoshop 7.0
I am designing logos in Illustrator but my question is: how do I import illustrator files into photoshop and be able to work on the file in photoshop?
Maybe my mistake is using the wrong program for logo design. What program would you use to design logos?
Thanks
Ron

ell I use macromedia freehand, but Illustrator is good to use for logos, you can easily import AI files into Photoshop, as these both are different products of a same company 'Adobe'.
You will just need to copy and paste the files from illustrator to Photoshop, or just try to open AI exported files into Photoshop. Both are possible

Huma:
I have imported every type of file listed. Most file formats do not allow me to change colors and others do not allow me to make any revisions to the art. Is there one method that would allow me to open an illustrator file into photoshop and to be able to do revisions as if I were in Illustrator?
Thanks
Ron

Once you open an AI file in Photoshop and modify/save it, it changes it file format from illustrator to Photoshop, now if you have used layers or something the file will be recognize as Photoshop file. It's somehow difficult to swap the files between the two softwares easily.
The normal practice is to work on one software till needed, and then export the file, if you still needs to work on previous software, you could use pieces of the objects and place them in file, but not the complete file.
Would you tell me what you are trying to do? Maybe I could help you.

Dear Huma:
Thanks. I tried every format and none of them allows me to change colors and shape in the same format. I have also tried to import different formats but none of them allows me to change shapes or colors.
Here is a very simple example of what I am trying to do:
Draw a square with a color fill in Illustrator. Add a circle to the middle of the square filled in white. Now you have a colored square with a white circle. I want to be able to open that file in photoshop to use some of that programs features that I cannot do in illustrator. I would like to be able to make size or color changes to the square or circle in one format only.
I probably should do my logos in photoshop but I feel more comfortable using Illustrator for drawing and design.
Thanks for your help
Ron
AnswerDear Ron,
Sorry for the delay,
For this type of practices, I just copy the path of the file and use it in Photoshop, i.e. the only solution to use rounded text in photoshop7 is to create it in freehand/illustrator first and then use in Photoshop,
Lets do one thing, send me your email address, I will create a file for you and then you can see how this can works.
