Adobe Photoshop/layer masks

Question
Hello,
if i make a layermask (levels)on the top layer, all the layers underneath will also change. How can i change the level of one layer without changing the other layers under that layer?

Answer
hey there,

I'm not 100 per cent sure, as I've never had that problem, but make sure you are only using the mask on that layer. Make sure the mask itself is in the layer.  If the mask a layer by itself, it will take control of all of the layers.
