Question
how do I get third party plug-ins into photoshop cs.  I have eyecandy 4000 but can't get it into cs.

Answer
Hi Stan,

Does your Eye Candy 4000 package have an installer? Many third-party filters do -- and if so, you need to direct it to install the plug-ins into your Plugins folder, within the Photoshop folder.

You can also install the plug-ins manually. Find your Photoshop CS program folder, and within that folder should be a folder called Plug-Ins. You can drag and drop the filters from the install CD to this folder.

One caveat: Make sure you don't have Photoshop running when you install filters. When you reopen Photoshop after the installation, you should see the new filters listed in a submenu below the stock filters that come with Photoshop.

If this doesn't work, please post back and let me know. Also tell me what computer you're using, and the OS, and I'll be able to give you a more complete answer.

Hope this helps!

Lisa

P.S. I will be out of town for the holiday weekend, but will be checking my mail again on Tuesday.

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.

PICA award (Printing Industry of the Carolinas Award for the design of a media kit that accompanied a magazine I was art directing at the time)
