Adobe Photoshop/printing 4x6 jpeg files
Expert: Huma Riaz - 9/5/2006
QuestionI have jpeg files (my own greeting card creations), which I made using Print Shop. I put them on a disc & took them to both WalMart and Target to use their machines to make 4x6s. The preview on the machine shows that the sides are slightly cut off. One machine said that it would print a 4x5.3 which wouldn't cut anything off, or a 4x6 which would slightly cut either the sides or the top/bottom. When I tried 3x5 and 5x7 there was no problem. But everything I've tried to get 4x6 prints doesn't seem to work, and every single technician I have asked is clueless about why this happens.
I don't know what to do. These cards HAVE to be 4x6. What can I do? Would very much appreciate your input. Thanks!

AnswerHi Nan,
what is the size of your print?
the size of the file (inches) should be larger than what is your actual area for printing, lets say you have a file to be printed on 6x4 then you should make the file of the same size and the front area should be smaller (left margins around) and if you don’t want margin area then make a bigger size and (6.5x4.5) and make it edge to edge (this way the margin area will be outside of the paper.
Still there will be chances of edge to edge printing or maybe cutting the edges slightly, and you can get to know the actual thing when you get the print in your hand.
However; if you have the access to your personal color printer things will be easily easy for you to understand the technique. Otherwise; you print out the larger size (5x7) and cut the card to the size you want.
If you are still not comfortable with the answer, you can as any expert in the list. '
Thank you for questioning, feel free to ask anything further
