Question
Hi, i am making a collage of different pictures, i copy & paste the pictures into a blank page, but once i get the picture there i just learned how to change the size of the pic by going to edit-free transform.  however that does not allow to adjust & keep the proportions.  i guess it must be something simple, but i cant figure it out.  i am new to photoshop
any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi June,

You're right, Free Transform isn't always the best tool for keeping your proportions correct. But there's an easier way: Go to the Image pulldown menu, and select Image Size... . Then type in the new dimensions for the image, in the Document Size area of the dialog box.

Make sure, in this dialog box, that you keep Constrain Proportions checked. This will keep your picutre from getting all stretched.

Now, if you don't know what size, numerically, that you want your image to be, you CAN use Free Transform. But this time, hold down your Shift key when you drag one of the handles. This will keep your image in proportion.
