Adobe Photoshop/getting rid of color cast

Question
Dear Candice Anderson,
Basically my question has to do with the color wheel.  I have a photo I took in Maine of a small fishing village covered in fog it was a very gray day.  On the slide the color is very accurate.  However after scanning in the slide in Photoshop 7.0 using a cannon film scanner set at 4000 dpi the color cast is to the blue side.  My problem is I don't understand how to get rid of the blue color cast.  I am using a gateway computer Photoshop 7.0 a cannon film scanner.  Usually set at 4000 DPI.  I believe if I could understand the principles of the color wheel this would be an enormous help.  I look forward to any help you can give me on getting rid of color cast.  An understanding the principles of the color wheel.         Respectfully Stewart Arno

Answer
hey there,

the reason why its blue is because of your scanner, i think.  When ever I scan anything thats white, i get blue.  What you can do, is play with your individual colors.

go to
images
adujustments
selective color
there, you can make the blue less.
if you need a little more contrast, play with curves.

sadly, the only way to intially fix it is to buy a really nice film scanner, one that is only for film and slides, or take that slide to a photo center.  Actully, now a days if you take a slide to a photo center, like Ritz or somewhere not corperate, they can print the photo on very pretty paper and it will look fantastic.  Not that expensive either, usually 20 dollars depending on your size.
