Adobe Photoshop/running photoshop CS thru external drive

Question
Hello.
I'm using a MAC with a 700MHz PowerPC G4 processor, memory is 256 MB
SDRAM. I've been scanning work for professional purposes and the scans
must be at very high resolutiuon (1000 minimum). This can make scanning a
very slow process.

I've purchased an external hard drive (250MB) in the hope that I can run
Photoshop CS as the only program on the hard drive. I hope that this will
make scanning quicker and that the image will be saved directly to the
external hard drive and not to the internal drive.

Is there a better way to accomplish this? Scanning at a lower resolution is not
a possibility nor is having a new internal hard drive installed.

Thanks.

Answer
Try installing more RAM, since 256 is really low RAM, it should be at least 512 or GB that makes the process better.

In other case, try maximizing Photoshop's virtual memory (I am not sure but somewhere in control panel or press 'option' key while clicking once or twice on application icon)

Try this, I hope this will help maximizing the speed, feel free to ask anything further
