Adolescent Medicine/broken leg

Question
i broke my lower left tibia and fibula. do you know why the skin color on my broken leg is darker than my good leg? did i damage an artery or vein? if so will the color come back?

Answer
Sometimes it is the cast, sometimes there is vein damage.  Usually, these things return to normal over time - months to years.  The cast tends to retain a fair amount of moisture and hold it against the skin, so if the discolorations are like patches or scattered areas, it may be worth a trip to the family doc or dermatologist to make sure it isn't a fungal infection.
