Question
i have temp guardianship of a 11 month old but i have had her since she was a day old her mom has been in jail for 9 months of her life she got out of jail and i made her come see the baby she did for a few hours and left and has never came back or even called about the baby i want to adopt this baby so how hard will it be for me this baby only knows my family and know one else

Answer
Dana I thought I had answered this question but just in case I will go ahead and answer it again. Sorry for the confusion. You need a lawyer as without one this can go no further but you are going to need to either find the birthmom and get her to sign papers giving up her parental rights if she is willing to do so and they will need to search for her. They can see how long it takes to file abandonment in your state and possibly proceed that way also their is the issue of birthfather rights. So go ahead call around find a good and knowledgeable lawyer in adoption and family law. Best wishes
Terrie
