About Peter C. Winkler, CSW
Expertise
I have experience with adoption subsidy, the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children and variety of other adoption related matters. I hope that I can be helpful to those who are considering adoption or would like to adopt a child.

Experience
I am a social worker with an MSW and I have over thirty years of experience in family and children's services. I have worked as Director of adoption services and of the Interstate Compact in a large state agency. I have also provided direct services to children and families in a preventive services program. I currently prepare adoption studies for those who are adopting domestically or internationally.

Question
I was wondering if you could help me. I have a nine month old baby girl who got taken from me from my evil ant in Ma. and I want to know what I do so my ser in Louisianna can adot my baby because I do not want my aun to have her. I am 22 years old but my aunt is still my adoptive parent until I et it revoked.

Answer
Dear Heather,
Your questions can be answered a lot better by a lawyer.  The first thing the lawyer will ask about is whether your aunt was granted custody or allowed to foster or adopt your child by a court.  Try to find out about that if you don't know.  Then, look for a place in your area that provides free legal services and try to get them to answer your questions.  If your aunt has gained legal custody of your daughter, it won't be easy for you or your sister to obtain custody of the child.
