Question i have 4 kids and the youngest is by my current boyfriend. We have been talking about letting him adopt them. we stay in the state of alabama and i don't know who to call.If my boyfriend adopts will he get money for adopting my kids even if we live in the same household?
Answer Dear Kane-
Sometimes grandparents or aunts or uncles will be able to get payments if they adopt a child in the family. This is called kinship adoption subsidy. It would not apply in the case of your boyfriend; even if he married you. In most cases courts would want you to be married to him before he could adopt the 3 children that are not his offspring. Once he adopted those children, their birthfathers would no longer be responsible for financial support, but he would be.
