My name is Denae my husband and I have had my cousins baby since june 12,2010 the arrangment was for her to go to drug rehab for a year she gave us written notarized letter to keep her 2 year old daughter she was put out of rehab in arkansas and left the state and never tried to get the baby it has now been 7 months she is in town and has signed an consent for guardisnship and adoption problem is she dosent know who childs father is the atty for guardinship put ad in paper for putitive father and we got no response what are the steps to adopt?

Sorry for the delay in answering, but I was away from my computer for a while. The next step in adoption would be for you to contact an attorney, who you would need to file with the court. He or she would be the best one to make this all legal.

I can answer questions about the adoption process. I have met all three of my birthmothers, and maintained a relationship with one of them for a few years after the adoption. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.
Experience
I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now teenagers and we are dealing with those issues.
