hello! my question is i'm trying to adopt my greaT nephew  which is my neices child. now she has given me the baby . I Had the baby since he was 5mons old now he is 1yrs. my niece also given me the consent to adopt him . I have a nortized statemtent from her stating that she releas her rights to the child. now i'm the child legal gud. I have the adoption in process as I speak .my question what ways can i terminate her rights. I havent seen or hear from her since . I'm in the state of CALIFORINA. althought i have the nortized statement from her is that good a enough to show to the judge that she doesnt want the child??? So please can u be so kind in answing my question . THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!1

You have to have a lawyer she will need to sign the papers I am guessing in front of whomever is required to do so in your state. Also do not forget about the birth father he has rights. You will have to go to an adoption and family lawyer to see what is required by law I have never known a notarized paper to be enough to terminate rights also are You legally the gaurdian? You may need an homestudy etc. Best wishes
