Question
My sister is a visiting scholar from China and just found out she is pregnant. She wants to give the birth of the baby in the US and  wants me to adopt the baby. I'd like to do it. My sister is a Chinese citizen and I am a US citizen. Both my sister and I are in California now.  
Questions: what is the procedure to adopt the baby? Do we have to ask a lawyer to help? What is the cost and how long it takes for the whole process with a lawyer's help?

You need a good lawyer and find out if this is possible when you have a birth father in another country. Need a lawyer possible homestudy we are talking thousands of dollars for just a lawyer alone in that state but that protects everyones rights. Best wishes.
