Question
Hi,
I have an odd question for you...
Since I was 13 I have known that I am not able to have children do to an accident I sustained and because of that accident I have just recently started getting social security disability benefits. I have not really talked to anyone about adoption yet because I don't want to start the journey without knowing some informations. My question is are people still able to adopt children while receiving social security benefits?
Thank You So Much,
Zoie Mitchel

Answer
Hi Zoie-
To answer your question directly, the fact that you receive social security disability should not prevent you from adopting a child.  Anyone who adopts a child normally has to receive training and go through an adoption home study to determine your ability to care for an adopted child.  Every State or County has an agency that places children who were previously in foster care for adoption.  I suggest that you start by contacting your local agency and asking them how you can adopt.
