Subject: Finding birth mother

Question
I was adopted by a mormon couple right out of the hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1962.  I know virtually nothing about my birth mom but I am in a place in my life where I would like to try and find her. My adoptive mother has come to believe in her heart that I am her real child ("you have your grandma's feet" etc), so I can't really ask her anything vital.  All she has told me is that the birth mother was 17 and a dancer.  I don't even know if that is true or just a story. If the state of Utah has sealed adoption records is there any way I can find her? Any info you (or anyone else out there) you can provide would be great.

Answer
You can register at the international soundex registry but the Only way you will find her at any such location is if she is actively looking for you. Without actual information from your mom that adopted you it can be hard but not impossible to look for her. Was it a agency placement or a private one thru the church?
