Question Where would I go to help my mother and my 15 year old brother (who is adopted and extremely sensitive to it) find a support group. It doesn't seem as easy as something like a Bipolar or AA Support Group. My mother is trying to help him and he cares greatly though he never knew the DNA parents.
Answer Hello I wish I could just say contact this person or that person but their are really not much in the way of support groups for teens unless they were adopted thru a specific agency etc, You might look in your phone book under self help groups see if their is a listing for adoption groups and call one of them for information. This is very common for some if not many children that are adopted. And being that age alone is hard add on being adopted and all that comes with that from feelings of abandonment to also maybe feeling that their was something wrong with them that the birthparents did not keep them etc and yes it leads to some problems has your mom considered a counselor it helped my son. Someone he could talk to that He knew would not could not share his feelings with us. Best wishes
