About Ronda
Expertise
I am a mom to two beautiful girls from China. I can answer questions regarding adoption from China from a personal viewpoint and based on my personal experience. I am not an adoption expert and do not work for an adoption agency

Experience
Having started the adoption process for the first time in the summer of 2000, I now have 6 years of experience. My husband and I have completed two adoptions from China, and have been parenting for 4 years now.

Education/Credentials
None related to adoption, but I am a Registered Nurse with 9 years of experience.

Subject: how is adopted child received by family?

Question
I am contemplating adoption soon. My concern is that extended family and relatives won't treat our child the 'same' as they would a genetic child. And that would make me angry, of course. Did your relatives react positively when you adopted your child?

Answer
Personally, we had no problems with family accepting our daughters (adopted from China).  Everyone accepted them without question.  I am an only child and often begged my parents to adopt a child.  Their answers often included the phrase, "I just don't know if I could love an adopted child as much as I love you."  Our daughters are my parents WORLD!  Seriously.  And my dad will tell anyone how he used to feel (not sure about being able to love an adopted child), but he is the first one to admit that my girls have him wrapped around their fingers!!!  I am currently pregnant with another baby girl - our first biological child and a total shock/surprise.  I don't anticipate any problems or differentiations between this child and our China-born girls!!!
