Question have you ever heard of an ammended birth cert. listing only a fathers name and not listing a mothers name? my adoption took place in NY state. the mother I did know died when I was 9, the adoption took place when I was 10. I had no adoptive mom after the mom I knew died. noone seems to have heard of this type of birth cert. yet. thnks- laura.
Answer Laura, NO I have never heard of this type of birth certificate. However did your father adopt you as a single parent? Was he married to your biological mother? Or was your birthmom not known to him did he adopt you as a single person? If he did that could explain how that would happen. I am not sure what is done for the place on a birth certificate when a mom is not in the picture.
