About Colleen
Expertise
I can answer questions about the adoption process. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.

Experience
I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now old enough to begin asking questions and we are dealing with those issues.

Subject: adopting a 26 year old

Question
I was married and the man had a 9 month old child. I have raised that child who is now 26. His biologival mom lives in Texas and his father in Virginia. He wants me to adopt him. Is that possible and do we need the biological parents permission

Answer
First of all, I'm sorry for the delay in answering your question, but I was on vacation and forgot to note that in my profile.

Since the person you want to adopt is an adult, I believe there would not be any reason to have the consent of the biological parents, but I suggest you contact an attorney in your area for assistance with this because adoption laws are different in every state.

Good luck!

Colleen
