About Colleen
Expertise
I can answer questions about the adoption process. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.

Experience
I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now old enough to begin asking questions and we are dealing with those issues.

Question
how long does the process usually take? And is there an age limit to being able to adopt?

Answer
there are is no cut and dried information on how long it takes or your age.  if you're doing a private adoption, there would be no age limit unless the birth mother requests one.  private adoptions can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.  if you're thinking of going through an agency, you can expect to wait up to many years if you want a healthy newborn.  agencies would have age limits.  if you're thinking about an over seas adoption, that can take well over a year or more and most likely they have age restrictions as well.

hope that helps.  good luck!
