AboutColleen Expertise I can answer questions about the adoption process. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.
Experience I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now old enough to begin asking questions and we are dealing with those issues.
Question hi i have divorced from my ex and she has remarried now she wants her husband to adopt my two children i still have contact with my children how do i stand with stopping the process
Answer Every state has different laws, but I am pretty certain that no court would allow a step parent to adopt a child without the consent of the biological parent. DO NOT ALLOW HER TO DO THIS. If you can afford to, contact an attorney right away who will be able to stop her proceeding with this most likely by simply sending her a letter advising her that you object to this.
If an attorney is beyond your means, you might try sending her a certified letter advising her you will not consent to the adoption of your children by her spouse. Keep a copy of the letter so if it ever ends up in court you have your proof that you objected prior to her doing anything. No court would allow this without having your input.
Good luck -- and keep up the contact with your children. They need you, and you need them.
