AboutColleen Expertise I can answer questions about the adoption process. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.
Experience I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now old enough to begin asking questions and we are dealing with those issues.
Question My husband & I have been approached about adopting a 3 month old baby. I understand that there is a grace period for the birth mother to change her mind. Is this the same in all states? We live in Alaska and the child is from Wyoming. How long is it? Thank you for your time.

Answer Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I was away from my computer for a few days.
Every state has different laws with regard to adoptions. My advice to anyone who is considering adopting a child privately is to first seek the advice of a lawyer in your area. Preferably an adoption attorney. He or she will be able to guide you through the process to make sure that all parties are protected.
