Question Hi Terrie,
I just found out that I have a brother and I want to find him. My mom gave him up for adoption in 1967 and she doesn't know anything about legal rights. Do we have the right to contact him? Do we need to find a birth certificate or birth record first? Any suggestion on how to get started would be really great. Thanks!
Answer Angie legally speaking You have no rights to find him. Morally its another matter entirely. His parents may not have ever told him that he is adopted so that could be a barried. Also men do not seem to be as interested in finding out information on birth family as woman but that does not mean that men do not go looking. Its Very hard to find information concerning his family etc . Was he adopted thru a lawyer a doctor or an agency? What state was your mom living in whatever she remembers names places etc will be of assistance.
