About Colleen
Expertise
I can answer questions about the adoption process. I don't handle questions about searches for adoptive parents.

Experience
I have three adopted children. The two youngest were adopted as infants. In both cases, we dealt with the birthmother during her pregnancy and a bit afterwards. Our children are now old enough to begin asking questions and we are dealing with those issues.

Subject: My neice wants to give us her unborn baby

Question
My niece is having a baby boy and wants to give it up to for adoption to us her exboyfriend doenst want to have anything to do with the baby she is going to put father unknown on the paper what do we have to do to make this happen what process do we take she will probably have a c-section in the next week and wants us to take custody right away we live in missouri and she lives in california

Answer
If you haven't done so already, contact an attorney to help you with this.  A home study will have to be done, and all legal papers need to be signed to protect both you and the baby.  Even though her boyfriend doesn't want to have anything to do with the baby, it is not a good idea to put "father unknown" on any legal papers.  Sometime in the future he could change his mind and decide he wants the baby, and with a paternity test he could prove it is his, and you might end up losing your child.  Just be sure to contact an attorney as quickly as possible, preferably before you take custody of the baby.

Good luck

Colleen
