Questionhi. i am looking to actually produce and direct an adult film . i live in Georgia which is preferably where i want to film the scenes. what if anything do you know about the laws or permits or licenses that i may need to obtain to make this happen
AnswerHi John,
First off it is ILLEGAL to produce Adult Material in the State of Georgia. Doing so may land you in jail on charges related to prostitution and/or pandering. California is the ONLY place in the United States where it is legal carry out such activity.
Adult film production is legal in California due to a president created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making Adult Material. However; producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT!
As far as permits and licenses... for reasons stated above...you obviously can't get them in Georgia.
ALL Adult Material is subject to Federal Regulations...specifically USC Title 18 Section 2257 and CFR Title 28 Part 75.Compliance with these laws is absolutely MANDATORY and producers of Adult Material are subject to UNANNOUNCED inspections by Federal Officials to insure they are indeed in compliance.
