Adult Film - Shooting porn in Florida

Expert: Charles Taylor - 2/7/2008

Question
I have heard that it was both legal and illegal to shoot porn in Florida. Since in South Florida they shoot for MILFHunter.com and BangBus.com and in West Central Florida they shoot GloryHoleGirlz.com and TampaBukkake.com but I have also read that Ray Guhn of CumOnHerFace.com got arrested for shooting content in Florida. I also know of several "adult" modeling agencies that are run out of Florida such as GiirlzInc.com and AlternativeModeling.com. So what is exactly LEGAL in Florida anyway?

Answer
This question is currently open to several different forms of interpretation. It is being fought out in court currently in regards to the Ray Guhn case. As far as to Wikipedia’s version of it visit-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porn_star

From that Wikipedia page:

“At present, no other state in the United States has either implemented or accepted this legal distinction between commercial pornography performers versus prostitutes as shown in the Florida case where sex film maker Clinton Raymond McCowen, aka "Ray Guhn", was indicted on charges of "soliciting and engaging in prostitution" for his creation of pornography films which included "McCowen and his associates recruited up to 100 local men and women to participate in group sex scenes, the affidavit says."[3] The distinction that California has in its legal determination in the Freeman decision is usually denied in most state's locale prostitution laws, which do NOT specifically exclude performers from such inclusion.”

And to view more about it visit-

As far as to your question about those other sites shooting currently in south and west central Florida I will say this. I believe that it’s all about location, location, location. The area where Ray Guhn got popped is part of Florida’s “Bible Belt” and they wanted to not only let others know not to “shoot in their backyard” and Ray Guhn is now the person that they wish to make an example of. Both south and west central Florida has many more items that they have to deal with on a regular basis so they can’t answer those types of complaints. In fact one of the network affiliates did as story not too long ago about the BangBus shooting porn on the highways of south Florida and the local alternative newspaper The Miami New Times wrote an article about BangBus as well-

So it’s a better call if your going to be shooting anywhere in Florida to remember to CYA at all costs!
