Subject: Is it illegal to film porn in other states than in California?

Question
What about Virginia and Florida.

Answer
Florida is second only to California as the #2 porn producing state. However California has laws that specifically cover such productions. Rarely is anyone ever busted anywhere for shooting porn without permits or unless they are violating local zoning laws. What they would typically bust you on anywhere would be: Obscenity, Pandering, Transporting someone across state lines for sex (human trafficking or violation of the Mann Act), lewd and lascivious conduct. Understand this porn is only quasi-legal in the United States anyway, and the answer to many particular queries could very well be, if you are in this biz you take your chances with many courses of conduct. Even if a thousand other companies get away with doing something, there are those handfuls of companies that get in trouble for doing substantially same thing, and there is not necessarily any particular reason other than "just because".

This is not legal advice, I am not the person that you should be asking what would happen to you. The most practical approach would be to consult an adult entertainment attorney.

I would NOT recommend shooting ANY form of adult related content within the jurisdiction of Commonwealth of Virginia.
