Expert: Dan Pepper Date: 5/3/2008 Subject: Buying the rights to Adult Content
Question Given the massive amount of Adult Content produced each year, I am wondering if there is a mountain of random, forgotten, unused stuff out there stretching back to the 1970s?
If so I am interested in purchasing the rights to such content in order to start a discount porn site. Should I contact companies directly? Or is there a clearing house for the purchasing of such rights? Where should I be looking?
Yours Faithfully,
Philip
Answer Philip,
I am not aware of any central repository - you would need to contact the individual producers of the content. However, it appears you're seeking distribution, not purchase rights, if you plan on distributing the content via a porn site. There may be exclusive distribution deals in existence, however, but contacting the individual production companies should yield this information.
