Subject: adult website focused on hentai/anime
Question I want to build an adult website that focuses on anime/hentai content. Other than the reviews I'd like to write/showcase on the site, I'd also like to participate in affiliate programs. Are there any legal issues regarding drawn/animated pornography that I should be aware of?
Answer Although you may not need to comply with the requirements of 18 U.S.C. 2257 and its associated regulations, you will still need to comply with local obscenity laws. You'll also need to comply with the terms of your affiliate agreement, and be aware of CAN-SPAM and other state unsolicited bulk laws (if you plan on using bulk email to advertise your site).
