Adult Film - myself & Wife want to start adult company
Expert: Jim Boyd - 7/8/2008
Question Me and my wife are looking to start our own adult film company (filming actors, not ourselves). Where should we start the research. We currently live in Kansas City, MO...Is filming/editing/etc illegal here? Do you know of any printed material that would be helpful?
Thank you for your help.
Answer Hi Will,
Unfortunately, such productions are NOT legal in the State of Kansas and could lead to being arrested on a variety of charges related to prostitution and/or pandering.
California is the ONLY place in the United State where productions of this type are actually legal. Adult film production is legal in California due to a precedent created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making adult films. However, producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT therefore production in any other State is, and will remain, ILLEGAL!
