Adult Film/Production Crew For Adult Films
Expert: Jim Boyd - 9/18/2008
QuestionJim,
I just relocated to Orlando Florida. I have several years of television and
commercial production experience in my tool box. I am able to edit on a
number of different editing systems, and I'm a pretty darn good
videographer as well. Who would I talk to about getting a job on the
production team doing what ever is necessary. I am really interested in the
production side of the business, and would like to get my foot in the door. I
have a demo reel of my work while I was in broadcast news to show whoever
is interested. If you can please point me in the right direction that would be
greatly appreciated.
AnswerBecause Adult Film Production is actually ILLEGAL in the State of Florida, you have unfortunately relocated to the wrong State.
While it’s true that there are companies producing such material in Florida every day, they are doing so contrary to Florida State Law and leave themselves (and everyone working for/with them) open to HUGE fines and lengthily jail terms if caught.
California is the ONLY place in the United States where productions of this type are actually legal. Adult film production is legal in California due to a precedent created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making adult films. However, producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT therefore production in any other State is, and will remain, ILLEGAL! This is a legal FACT, no matter what other so-called “experts” may tell you.
If you are truly interested in working in this Industry, my advice would be to relocate to California where you can legally peruse your interest.
