Question
I am interested in starting an adult film business and trying to learn whether it is best to try to do so in PA, DE, or NJ. Also, I was wondering if you could point me to the direction of where I could find info on what type of initial and working capital I would need -- as well as any other budgetary considerations I need be aware of -- before embarking on such an endeavor.

If you are talking about producing your own content in these states, there is probably no significant difference, however PA has been slightly more active in prosecuting obscenity and related charges.
I know of no location where you can find a description of budgetary and working capital considerations, for the simple reason that they vary dramatically depending upon the nature and type of company you wish to form. I have clients that have spent $15K on their first film; others over $500k. It all depends on what you envision your business to be doing.

| Comment | Thanks, Dan. While reading through all of your responses -- and after submitting my question -- I learned that such films can only be legally filmed/produced in California. So it seems I have the dilemma of illegally filming somewhere in Delaware Valley, or expensively taking my actors/talent out to California. Either way, I will be sure to come to you to create my LLC and provide legal guidance should I decide to try this. Again, thanks. | ||
