Adult Film - How to become a specialist in adult law

Expert: Dan Pepper - 10/16/2009

Question
I am completing a JD at an online university in the state of CA and will be sitting for the bar exam in a few months. I am now in the process of looking for a job and thinking about setting up my own practice. I am considering practicing in "adult law" as I think there is quite a bit of interest in this area. However, I have not been able to get any good advice from my academic advisors.

So, the question is: What is the best way to break into the practice of adult law when one is fresh out of law school?

Answer
Eric,

In my opinion, adult law is very difficult to get into right out of school.  There are various areas of law that are involved:  contract, First Amendment, intellectual property, regulatory, criminal, and other laws.  I would recommend trying to get started with a traditional entertainment law firm and then work your way into the adult component.
