How much do female pornstars make at each level in the industry, and how is their pay determined? Minutes of used footage?

Answer
Female Adult Performers are paid based on the type of scene she happens to be performing in at the time. It will generally vary from $800 to $2000 but can go much higher for very popular performers.  


Male Adult Performers are also paid "per scene" but generally never make more than $200 - $500 depending on their reliability and popularity. Males also do not have the longevity in this business that the females have.
