Adult Film - Maryland

Question
I have had high hopes for starting a Porn Company. I have several girls and guys who would be willing to film and start sites. I have the talent to direct produce film and act. I know in your previous answers you always say to contact a lawyer however i just want to know if I can do all the work here out of Maryland?

Answer
You can certainly start your own production company...just NOT in Maryland because the production of Adult Material is ILLEGAL in that State.

California is the ONLY place in the United States where productions of this type are actually legal. Adult film production is legal in California due to a precedent created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making adult films. However, producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT therefore production in any other State is, and will remain, ILLEGAL!

New Hampshire may soon join California as a "porn friendly State" however, they still have a long way to go before I would recommend shooting there.
