Question
QUESTION: hey there. 1st id like to say you are the best one on this site to answer questions!. well i want to open an adult agency in miami but i dont know what i need. do i need a license? make a coorporation? a tax number? please let me know what i need to do to get my agency up and running. thanks a lot much love.

leo.

ANSWER: Hi Leo, and thank you for the compliment.

Yes, in order to open an Adult Talent Agency you will be required to have a business license and a State/Federal Tax ID number. Forming a corporation is not necessarily required, but it is a good idea when starting any type of Adult Business in order to protect your personal assets in the event of a lawsuit.

Your biggest problem with this project is going to be the competition...there are about a dozen Agencies Already operating in Florida alone.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: wow that was fast. thanx. excuse me for my ignorance but how would i go about getting a corporation? do i need to go to the city for that? i think i have to go to the city for the buissness license and for the tax number right? do you have an idea more of less of the pricing for the corporation, tax number and license. one person told me it was hundreds of dollars and another told me it was thousands but i have no idea. thanks so much for the reply you're of great help!

Answer

When it comes to forming a corporation, you would definitely be better off speaking with a local Attorney and let him advise you on the type of corporate entity you actually need to suit your purpose. I am simply not familiar enough with Florida State Laws to offer and solid advice on the matter.

In fact, anyone thinking of entering in to any type of Adult Business venture should ALWAYS consult with a qualified Attorney on ALL matters related to that business. In Florida I recommend you start by talking to Adult Industry Attorney Barry Oliver Chase (www.entertainmentlawyermiami.com)in Miami.

Exact cost will vary depending on the situation, and the Attorney you speak with, and will be rather costly.
