QuestionId like to make my own adult videos but have no experience.Ive looked online and found a couple of mini courses by an entertainment lawyer a course by dave cummings and carnaluniversity.com which seemed to have stalled their curriculum.Any suggestions on where to start.Where I am in the game?I could probably come up with some money have no experience a little interenet research and no contacts in the business oh and I plan to stay 1000 percent in legal compliance and I live in NY
AnswerHonestly Nestor, you are probably going to be completely out of luck.
Fist off ALL of the "get rich making porn" courses are complete and total rip-offs...including the one endorsed by a so-called Adult Industry Attorney. The provide you with nothing more that what you can find on the Internet with a little diligent research...don't waste your time or money on them.
Secondly, is the money. Unless you have $250k or more at the ready, you are going to encounter substantial problems. Legal fees, lighting equipment, sound equipment, HD Cameras, Computers, editing software, permits, and about a dozen other expenses make starting an Adult Film Business an extremely expensive matter. Finding 3rd party investors will be completely impossible...who in their right mind would invest hundreds of thousands in an Adult Film company that has no experience in actually making films?
Thirdly, you can't legally do Adult Production work in New York. California is the ONLY place in the United States where productions of this type are actually legal. Adult film production is legal in California due to a precedent created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making adult films. However, producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT therefore production in any other State is, and will remain, ILLEGAL!
Where are you in the game? You have no funding, no knowledge of the film making process, and no contacts within the business....so you are not in the game at all.
