Adult Film/legalities of making / selling home adult footage

Question
My partner, myself and a few select friends have been making adult home movies for a while now and would now be interested in looking into selling some of the existing footage as well as making new movies. We just dont know where to begin, or if beginning to be had?

The main questions are ... is this legal (I'm in the UK); are their sites that will pay for original adult footage; is there a viable income to be made (i'm under no delusions of being a millionaire).

To date movies have covered: Myself solo, with partner, swinger group, FF, FFM and FFF threesomes.

Just to be clear, i'm not interested in doing pro studio takes, only making our own and selling the footage (also happy to make to order).

All parties are over 21.

Answer
Becca,

I am not in expert in the laws of the UK with respect to adult production, so I cannot advise you on the legalities of your activities there.

However, there are sites that pay for quality original content, and your income will depend upon the quality and quantity of the content that you produce.  You may want to consider visiting sites like clips4sale.com and seeing what sort of interest your content generates.  If it is popular, you could consider shopping it to other pay sites, or even consider launching your own (where you don't give up a percentage of sales).  If you are looking to sell into the U.S. market, you'll need to ensure that your content is compliant with 18 USC 2257 and 28 CFR 75.  You can get an overview of these regulations here:  http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/optf/links/2257-compliance-guide.html

You should do some homework and become familiar with how the industry works:  good sites to research are cozycampus.com, xbiz.com, and ynot.com.  Good luck!
