Adult Film/Submitting a resume in the Industry

Question
Hi Mr. Pepper,

I'm just about ready to graduate college and although I will have a stellar GPA (3.9) and pretty many job prospects, I really am only attracted to doing work in the adult industry. Not as a performer but just in any capacity that lines up with my skills which are mainly in the humanities and communications areas. There are many ways to contact people who work for AVN, Elegant Angel, Hustler etc. but I feel like it would be unprofessional to simply send them resumes out of the blue. I do not want to come off like just another young guy looking for sex with a porn star, I have a serious interest in the business, PR, and artistic side of the industry. Anyway I was wondering if you had any advice on submitting resumes in the Adult industry or maybe finding internships/co-ops types of programs (if they exist).

Thanks for the help,

Sean

Answer
Sean,

I am not aware of any such programs.  In this industry, it's all about networking, so my best suggestion to you is to attend the various industry events and conferences held each year and to impress as many as you can that way.  Submitting resumes will not get you anywhere in this business, unfortunately.

You can find a list of some of the industry events here:  http://www.xbiz.com/calendar/
