Adult Film/First "contract" film.

Question
Answered an ad in Dallas for adult film work, have been through an initial meeting where basic photos were taken and parameters of what I am willing to shoot were established. Waiting now for the contract to arrive from Nevada. Have been told shooting could begin the next day and that similar scenes pay $1700. Scenes are 15-20 minutes and I am paid after each scene. The owner claims to have 10 years in the business. Based on his office and equipment I would say that is plausible. When I followed up with a request as to whom I would be contracting to and for they told me that I would not be told until the day of the shoot, when I am to sign the contract.  They say this is for the sake of the privacy of the consumer as well as the performer and producer. Is this a normal procedure for contract work? What are the best avenues for developing reliable, niche specific, contract film work, for a mature, level-headed, beginner who wants to make the money, have the fun, and run above-board?

Answer
Rebecca,

Anyone you plan on dealing with should have no problem providing their identity.  Is this production for a general release, or for a single customer (as your post seems to suggest)?

I'd recommend working through a reputable agency that handles this on your behalf.  It is very easy for talent, who is trying to work directly with producers, to get screwed (and not in the good way!).

I'd first recommend reaching out to some good agencies - here are a few to start with:

www.ladirectmodels.com
www.type9models.com
www.atmla.com
www.giirlzinc.com
www.lisaannstalentmanagement.com

My office will often pair talent with producers we have relationships with - if you're interested in that, feel free to contact me through my website at www.adultwebsitelawyer.com.
