Question
I am planning on starting a booking agency for strippers in the DC metropolitan area as well as in the SF Bay area of California. My plan is to register the company as a LLC in Nevada. My hope is for the business to be web-based having pages set up for each of the dancers. They will have photos, videos and web cam schedules. I have a have a few questions:

1. what are the laws in general for strippers for hire. I have researched the laws in Maryland first however all I can find are laws that pertain to Clubs or "brick and mortar" establishments. Can the dancers do shows with masturbation or self arousal in Maryland or California? How far can my dancers go in a show when they are at an event?

2. What are the laws for setting up a site like this? For showing web-cam stuff?

3. I like the tax advantages and protection from setting up a LLC in Nevada, although I am located in Maryland. Can I register my company there and fullfill the duties of my business online/ elsewhere?

Thank you in advance for your answers, I look forward to what you have to say.

Answer
Chris,

Thanks for your questions, however they are seeking specific legal advice for which I cannot answer in this forum.  I will say that in general, you will not find specific state laws regarding dancers on webcams.  There are several laws and regulations that apply, from both the federal, state and local levels.  You would need to be familiar with each of these prior to launching your website, and additionally, ensuring that your talent comply with these laws as well.

Regarding your question for the Nevada LLC, in general the answer is yes, however you will need a registered agent in Nevada, and if you are seeking to maintain anonymity, a nominee director as well.

I can discuss these matters with you in far more detail if you'd like to contact my office - feel free to do so through http://www.adultwebsitelawyer.com
