Question
Hi there!
How much time does it normally take to shoot each porn scene?
What is the normal range of time and what's the average amount of time?

Thanks for your response!!

Answer
Moira,

Thank you for your question. If you're in New York (my expert dashboard indicates that you are), and you're referring to legitimate & legal porn scenes, the answer is 0 minutes & 0 seconds. Legitamite & legal pornography is not shot in the State of New York for 2 reasons: First, because adult films are only completely legal to be produced in California & one other state. And secondly, because most big & legitimate porn companies are based in Los Angeles, CA (Hustler, Vivid, Penthouse and Anabolic are just a few examples)... Los Angeles is where you need to go to become a porn star.

In other words, if you're asking this question because of an experience you had or a proposed shoot that perhaps you have scheduled, in New York, then the "general rules" wouldn't apply because it's probably not a legitimate production.

Now... in Los Angeles, and the few other places throughout the Country where legitimate pornography is produced by real production companies, the answer is "a few hours".

Porn models are typically paid per project, not by the amount of time. I normally teach my new models to set aside an entire day - although they probably won't be shooting ALL day - for a shoot, and to avoid scheduling multiple shoots in a single day - whenever possible.

I've dropped my models off at shoots with big companies, expecting the shoot to last all day, and they end up calling me 2 hours later, since everything is done. But it's more normal to have a call time of 9 - 10 AM, and hope that my model gets out before the banks close (at around 6PM). You should essentially be prepared for a good day's worth of work... the same as a regular job.

There are exceptions to this rule. As I'm writing this, 2 of my models are currently working on a reality-show-type of shoot, where they'll be spending several DAYS on a Producer's set (in this case, at a house, and also at a professional studio). Everything they do is going to be recorded (not only sex, but also eating, chatting, surfing the net, etc.) In this case, they are going to be paid by the minute - for every minute that the cameras are running.

"Normal" time to shoot a normal legit porn scene: I'd say about 5 - 6 hours; a lot of which doesn't involve sex. Time will be taken for completion of legal documents, model releases, STD-test verification, ID authentication, etc. Then there is wardrobe/makeup which can take a decent amount of time, and then stills are generally shot - "pretty girl" or glamour photos of the girl, and maybe 20 - 30 minutes of stills (this is where the guy is penetrating the girl, but they're not "moving" to get some good still shots for box-covers, websites, etc.), and THEN there is the actual video-shoot. After that, most legit producers will do another legal video "exit interview", and payment is taken care of.

"Normal" RANGE for legit porn shoots: anywhere from 1 hour to 1 week.

"AVERAGE" time for a legit porn shoot: I've never really done the math, to be honest. Probably around 5 - 6 hours, I suppose.

Modeling contact as a Licensed Model: Priceless

Some shoots include the guy cuming only once, whereas others may require more than one "session". Obviously, these particular "sessions" depend on the guy, the girl, the circumstances, etc.

For me, as male talent, I usually last about 5 - 6 hours per session. ;-) (Just kidding.)

Hope this helps.

Experience

Mike began his career in the entertainment industry as a talent rep for a large, well-respected talent management Company for S.A.G. actors and fashion models. The Company has been in business for nearly 20 yrs.

In 2006, since the Company is based in the porn capital of the world (the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles), Mike suggested to the President of the Company that they open a division for adult film models. The President accepted, and Mike was put in charge of leading the new division. For the first few months, he went to work for a couple different porn producers to “learn the ropes” of the adult industry. In early 2007, the Company’s adult industry division (LicensedModels.com) opened its doors. Mike was named Senior Vice President.

Since that time, LicensedModels.com’s reputation and connections have grown immensely. LicensedModels.com is now considered to be the top talent management Company for new models in the North American porn industry, and the only adult talent management company capable of promoting its clients for “Crossover Modeling” (promoting its clients for mainstream acting, modeling, dance, and book authoring, in addition to promoting them for porn.)

Since 2007, Mike the Talent Manager has developed personal relationships with the presidents, casting directors, talent coordinators, production directors and “shot callers” of almost every legitimate producer of pornography in the United States. He also has relationships with talent agencies and industry-standard talent STD testing services within the adult film business. LicensedModels.com boasts the ability to introduce a brand-new model to the entire legitimate North American porn industry at the snap of Mike’s fingers, so to speak. Mike has also performed on camera in several porn films for various well-known production companies, and he has also begun his own production line as well.
