Adult Film/69 questions from a Newbie in the biz
Expert: - 6/29/2007
QuestionI've seen similar questions asked several times before in this forum, and answered vaguely. Maybe because the person asking didn't know how to ask the right question. I don't know.
I recently did my first scene for an adult DVD, so I'm not a "star" by any means. I'm still a newbie who's had her cherry popped. No pun intended. And found my debut into the adult film industry brought to a screeching halt shortly after my first flick.
I had a "manager"; I put it in quotations because he may have known who to speak to and had a few contacts with some A listed companies, but unfortunately discovered he was a two time sex offender after he decided to attempt to extort me and got the police involved so I could have a civil escort and get my things back. So the police were the ones to inform me that he was in fact a convicted sex offender. This was not hear say.
Now, while I had an absolute blast on set and thoroughly enjoyed it, this after math experience has got me a bit shook up and gun shy to go out there treading on my own uninformed. I understand this is a cut throat biz. In all fairness what biz isn't?
What I'm asking, is who is reputable (companies, agencies, managers) and who isn't. How do you get in contact with them? Who to stay clear of? What are the warning signs or red flags to look for to stay out of trouble and SAFE? And any other suggestions, tips, or advice to help a newbie stay out of deep malarky.
