Hi Jim, how are you? I live in NYC and I am interested in getting into adult films as a performer. I know that California is the place to be in terms of that, however a few of my favorite performers reside in NYC so I suppose its possible. What are some things I should know/do, places I should go or even people to talk to, to help me get started and hopefully at least get a foot in the door. Thanks.

Hi Ezra,

It would help to know if you are male of female, but sense you didn’t provide that information I will give you the short answers for both.

WOMEN:

For women it is pretty easy. Simply contact a REPUTABLE Adult Talent Agency and talk with someone there about what you would like to do. Most of these have websites so they are easy to find and all will be more than willing to talk to you. Odds are that if you can reach an agreement with one of them you will be working very soon. I would recommend contacting one/all of the following:

MEN:

For guys it is not nearly as easy but the method is the same. Contact one of the above Agencies and talk with them. Perhaps one of them may be able to assist, perhaps not. To be honest, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

It is VERY difficult for men to get started in this industry. Even if you do manage to find an agent willing to sign you, it DOES NOT guarantee that you will ever actually be offered any work. To be blunt, guys are a dime a dozen and the competition is massive.
