Question
When a model signs a model release granting another party rights to sell, and redistribute content does that usually nullify the model's rights to sell the content themselves? Does this vary any according to TFP, TFDVD, and On Spec?  

Answer
There are general model releases that are plainly "cookie cutter releases" some have areas that can be modified. The bottom line to CYA is to take it to a lawyer in your area since laws very from state to state. You could also have it worded so it would be not only legally valid in whatever state that your business is incorporated in but gives the company and models several different choices for compensation as well. Plus remember that non compensation agreements and/or releases usually authorizes the model be compensated after sale…so in that sense if someone has purchased the whole rights to a product then that would nullify the models rights in some terms…however they could write in that they could have excusive rights or semi exclusive rights of sale for a certain amount of time and a certain type of media. So there are a lot of different style contracts that are available and open to businesses and models.
