Question
I am wanting to get into the gay porn insdustry. There is no delicate way to ask this question. If you're HIV poz, what are the chances that you would be able to make it in the gay porn industry?  What is the industry's stigma against/for working with those who are poz? By the by, I'm writing from Portland OR. I read the answer given about how to get into the biz, but I would really appreciate a little more gay specific help if you could. Thank you.

There are a couple of female pornstars in the porn industry that are HIV positive, but they only do bukkake movies or bit parts now, no sex. There's a massive stigma. The reason they test before every scene is because no-one is willing to work with someone that is HIV positive. You might be able to work with someone you already know from your private life, who is okay with that, but I don't know of any male gay pornstars who are HIV positive, and obviously telling everyone involved before you make the movie would be absolutely required, because of the risks.

I hate to tell you this, but it may be a dream you have to give up on. As much as you may love hard sex and want to be a pornstar, be very careful with any lovers that you are with, and follow some of the other things in your life that you have always wanted to do.

You should contact gay porn studios and agents directly, but I think they'll tell you the same thing.

If you want to know about porn, I used to live in Porn Valley, and know many, many things about the US sex industry.
