Question Do adult film companies have casting calls or auditions? If so what part of the country do you have to go to do this?
Answer Some companies do have open casting calls or auditions. These are usually held at the studios and are advertised well in advance. Casting calls are like cattle calls since they get the models to one location and because of the sheer nature of applicants they will just go over the basics of the project, have you fill out the applicable paperwork, verify your ID and take some photos of you. Standard qualifying photos are as follows-
• Head shot
• Full body shot- front nude
• Full body shot- back nude
• Full body shot- side nude
This basically shows what you have to offer to the company. Most will want "mug shot" style shots where you are just standing not posing thus being able to see all of your imperfections. Guys need to be aroused (erect) for their front shot and they sometimes have material of an adult nature to help you achieve the desired effect. Then if they are interested in you they will call you. Some managers/agents do the same thing after they have interviewed with you individually they will take you out on "meet and greets" where you will show up to the studio and speak with the casting personnel there. Some of them will want separate different photos of you as well.
Auditions are a whole different ballgame depending on who you’re working with. Unless you have an extensive collection of credits behind you or for lack of a better word technically it would be your porn resume. You may be asked to perform a live audition. For guys I have heard that they stick you in with an average looking girl and see if you can do a scene with her. If you can’t get hard or last at least 15 minutes your life in the jizz biz will be short lived. You will also have some people working around you (camera person/photographer, lighting/sound) as well. Now the only real policy for these types of screen tests is that the performer you will be working with will really be female talent and not some girl they pulled in off the street to bang you. The working theory behind it here is if you can’t do your job with an industry professional and crew around under the hot lights then you probably won’t be able to do it at paid shoot either. They seldom do this for the new female talent but I have heard cases of it as well. Either because the last few girls who came in couldn’t really fuck (that’s right) they just laid there and actually didn’t do anything. You have to really act like your enjoying it, when most of the time just like in many other jobs your really not. Trust me it is an actual job and there are certain things, persons and/or acts that you might not like but you are willing to do for the $$$. (My advice to all prospective performers is to actually watch a lot of videos before calling a company for an interview) or other reason is because new girls in the past have complained about the male talent that she had been paired up with and decided not to have sex with the actor at the last minute and thus ruining the entire shoot. So then the producer is angry with you because you just cost him his expenses for the day. I tell everyone the same thing constantly if you don’t like to do something don’t do it. These are what are called your restrictions the companies can work through them and shoot you doing something you want to do. But if you’re doing porn you have to be convincing and you really have to like having sex and not be in it just the money.
