Thanks in advance. to be honest, I've been searching the internet to find out where it is legal to film, produce or simply base my adult film company but have found nothing. I am currently based in NYC and I'm curious if there are any legal issues with filming pornography in manhattan or any other state thats not california. I know its a broad question but I am honestly at a loss and have been searching for quite some time. Should it turn out that it is legal in NY, where can i find out what each individual states laws are regarding pornography.

California is the ONLY place in the United States where it is legal to hire some one to have sex for the production of Adult material.  Attempting to produce Adult material in ANY other State will probably lead to charges relating to prostitution and/or pandering.

Adult film production is legal in California due to a president created by a 1988 decision of the California Supreme Court (California vs. Freeman). As a result of that decision, California became the FIRST AND ONLY state where a person can be legally hired to have sex for the purpose of making adult films. However; producers are still required to obtain permits before starting any such production. NO OTHER STATE HAS SUCH A PRECEDENT!

Paying someone to have sex in exchange for money,  regardless or reason or circumstance, is simply ILLEGAL in ALL other States.
